I recently heard from someone who asked me, in part: “Do you have to be a member to be able to take advantage of the specials and discounts from Nutrisystem? Can non members use the coupons?” After a bit of dialog, it become clear to me that she was under the impression that you had to pay a fee to join or sign up for membership. In fact, she had a few incorrect assumptions which I was able to clarify for her.

There’s No Membership Fee For Nutrisystem: First of all, any one can go to the Nutrisystem site and sign up for a free account. They only require very basic information and your choosing a password which only takes a few minutes. Once you’ve signed up, you’re entitled to the counseling and support, the motivational messages and literature, the online classes, the chat rooms, the daily diary, and the advice from trainers and dietitians. Of course, all of this is centered around the Nutrisystem food, which is really all that you’re paying for.

When it comes to buying your food, the company is pretty open to coupons and specials. They sometimes change the special offers depending on what time of the year you are in, but there’s usually always very aggressive offers available. I think that some of the confusion about the coupons concerns the difference between membership and auto delivery, which I’ll discuss now.

Nutrisystem Auto Delivery Versus Membership: Sometimes, you’ll notice that in order to take advantage of the best coupons, you’ll need to be sign up for auto ship. Sometimes, people confuse this for membership. You can certainly still be a member without needing to commit to auto delivery. All auto delivery means is that you’re authorizing the company to automatically ship future orders to you until you tell them to stop.

It doesn’t elevate the level of support or services that you are offered. People who aren’t signed up for this still use the support, the counseling, and the coupons. It’s just that sometimes the more deep discounts are reserved for people who automatically have their food shipped to them. In addition to the initial coupon, they’ll usually also give you free shipping and 10% off your future orders.

Whether it makes sense to sign up for this often depends on how long you’ll be on the plan. If you plan to be on the diet for more than a month or two, It can make sense. However, folks who aren’t signed up for this still have access to some pretty nice discounts and coupons. And the level of support and services is the same. Everyone who uses the site can become a member for free. Auto delivery and membership really are two different things.

We humans seem to be obsessed with novelty and gimmicks and so even though we know that something is good for us, or is a reliable solution to a particular problem, we will ignore it in favor of something flashier and eye catching. A prime example of this issue can be plainly seen in regards to weight loss and dieting in that the tried and proven methods of weight loss, such as exercise and healthy eating are summarily snubbed in favor of fad diets.

These fad diets, which are as bereft of facts as they are nutritional value, should be approached with extreme caution. A great deal of them encourage very counter-productive and frankly, downright dangerous eating habits such as the total abstinence of one type of food, in favour of excessive consumption of another.

What many people fail to realize is that whilst there is issues such as “vitamin deficiency” it is also possible to actually overdose on certain types of healthy food. For example, whilst Vitamin A is proudly broadcasted as the primary means of ensuring healthy eyes and eyesight, an overdose of this vitamin can cause cataracts and even blindness.

Fad diets effectively demonise otherwise healthy foods and so they completely ignore any form of balance in regards to this issue. The Atkins Diet was a prime example of this, in that carbohydrates are determined as being hazardous to weight loss and therefore, they were to be avoided.

Carbohydrates are not an essential energy source for the human body and so it is in theory at least, entirely possible for a person to be able to acquire all of the energy they need for their activities solely from protein and fat.

However, consuming carbohydrates as an energy source will significantly reduce the risks of heart disease as well as renal failure, which are two health conditions associated with an excessive consumption of fat, and protein respectively.

The Atkins diet used faulty logic as it generalised ALL carbs to be hazardous to health. Complex carbohydrates which are found in wholegrain bread, pasta and vegetables such as spinach and mushrooms are ideal for safeguarding good health, whereas simple carbs (commonly found in chocolate, soda and refined sugar) do not provide substantial or beneficial health effects for the person who consumes them.

Tread lightly when using a fad diet, or better yet, just don’t use them at all.

Are you convinced that the only way you’ll ever be able to shed those unwanted pounds is through a rigorous diet that forces you to eat tasteless food and feel starving all the time? If so, let me shatter that belief right now! Diets are actually one of the worst ways to lose weight around, but somehow we’ve all been convinced otherwise…

When you put yourself on a “diet,” that usually means restricting your calorie intake (eating less food) and only eating “healthy” food. Of course what everyone defines as healthy always seems to vary.

These radical changes force your body to respond in a variety of ways, usually bad. For example, if you start a low carb diet you may lose some weight really fast. The only problem is that it’s mostly all water weight since your body used up all the carbs holding water in your muscles. The result is a droopy figure and huge lack of energy.

If you’re trying to exercise while you’re on your diet good luck!

Instead of dieting, we need to focus on small life changes a little at a time. Things like eating 1 more meal every day, or taking slightly smaller portion sizes. When you slowly introduce things that will help you lose weight, you will develop habits that incorporate them into your every day life.

But when you go on a huge diet and change everything you’re doing, it’s not likely to stick and you’ll probably just give up in a few weeks. Then you’ll be right back to where you started, wondering why it’s so hard to lose weight. It can be an easy and gradual activity if you focus on the right things.

If you are diagnosed as yeast intolerant then you will usually have to start a yeast free diet. The diet will include bread and other yeast products. This can leave quite a gap in the daily diet as bread is considered a staple food in many countries especially Europe, North America and Australasia.

There are in fact two reasons why bread is not part of a yeast free diet.

You would think that the use of yeast as a basic ingredient would be the cause but this is not necessarily so. Although it is a factor, the main reason is the sugar that is added to help the yeast grow which makes the bread rise. The other reason is that wheat flour has a high gluten content. Gluten is the starch that holds the bread together after cooking. Although the body needs starches to help the production of beneficial bacteria they can also be obtained from potatoes and rice.

There are many different type of flour available to substitute the use of wheat flour however, most of them do not have the gluten content that wheat flour has. It may be necessary to combine two or three types of flour to obtain the texture that you want. When buying the flour be sure to read the ingredients. Generic flours like cake flour, bread flour or self raising flour are normally made from wheat flour. Some other popular flours are from cereals which are derivatives of wheat.

Wheat flour is also used in biscuits, cakes, crackers and cake and batter mixes. Reading the labels for the ingredients of any food can be time consuming and tedious but once you know what is available it becomes very much easier.

Because yeast is a rising agent then there is a major problem in trying to make anything that will resemble a loaf of bread. The chances are that you are never going to succeed and need to move on. It is possible to make unleavened bread which is a good substitute. You can add herbs to it to make it a little bit special and use vegetable margarine. Again check the label for additives.

Another option as a rising agent is baking soda or baking powder. This is normally used in scones and small cakes. It will give a light airy texture and is better for small bread type rolls.

Here is a quick recipe for wheat free bread:

1 cup Cornmeal – 1 tbsp Shortening – 1 Egg – 1 tsp Baking powder – Salt to taste

Preheat the oven to 375F. Line the baking pan with paper and then dust it with a little flour. Place the cornmeal, salt and shortening in a large container and gently mix together. Add a little bit of boiling water, and stir until you have a smooth batter. Beat the egg and fold it into the batter. Add the baking powder and stir. Pour the mixture into the baking pan and bake for 20 – 25 minutes. Tipout and cool on a baking wire. You could also use a muffin tray and papers to make bread rolls.

Loaves of bread and bread rolls are something we all grow up with and it is very difficult to actually cut them from your diet. The texture and taste of any substitute is going to be very different but with a little imagination and practice you may even get to prefer it.

Contrary to popular belief, grueling work outs and jogging at the crack of dawn are not the best ways to downsize your excess pounds. Eating less and eating healthy can just be as counterproductive — so scratch your oatmeal and oranges for breakfast routine, too. Since our body mass is a matter of metabolism, the key to a fat weight loss diet that works is a novel approach to what you eat.

Keep in mind that balancing our carbs has been one of the overarching diet trends for the last two decades, which has seen more obese and overweight people in our society than ever before. But no matter how much or how little you eat, erratic results that take either too long to achieve or are too difficult to maintain can leave you feeling bitter (not better).

Even worse, what we believe are low carb diets can be misleading as we end up eating more of the fatty stuff than we thought! While regular exercise and staying on top of what you eat is ideal, what is really needed is a weight loss meal plan that gets fid of the excess fat.

Understanding Carbohydrates

Some diet regimens can be drastic; others, rather questionable. This is why we have to know the importance of carbohydrates (or carbs in our case). Carbs are sugars that are in almost everything we eat. The problem with most carb-centered diets is that they recommend a large drop in our carbohydrate intake, when in fact we need a consistent intake of carbs to stay healthy.

Remember: Fat/weight loss is not a matter of how many or how few carbs you eat. It’s a matter of what kind. Simply put, fewer carbs a day is not the best for you. And one major reason for this is that carbs are brain food. Starve your body of carbs and you starve your brain of its fuel.

It’s the same with fruit. A purely fruit diet won’t guarantee a trim build or any significant weight loss. Of course, fruits are healthier than simple sugars and are an excellent choice for a lean diet. However, your best bet is an approach to meal eating that doesn’t cheat your real goals and fuss with your calorie intake.

What you need is a quick weight loss plan whose core is a trailblazing approach to improving your diet. For results that matter, a methodical and unique fat weight loss diet is your best choice.

If you have a lot of excess fat around your body then you have probably gave some thought as to the best way of ridding yourself of some of that excess flab. As hard as it maybe to accept or come to terms with, there is no such thing as an instant fix solution, or magic remedy and so if you want results you will need to make sure that you stick to a reliable diet regime religiously.

The following is a list of 7 Tips to Lose a Lot of Fat Fast:

Don’t skip breakfast

Too many of us wake up in the morning, skip breakfast and then when have a sugar saturated snack sometime in the late morning. This is counterproductive because we get a marginal energy increase followed by a massive slump. Therefore, we need to eat even more food. Have a healthy breakfast, such as oatmeal and a banana for constant and consistent energy throughout the day.

Eat your food more slowly

As food enters our stomach there is a delay of several minutes between the digestion process being fulfilled and the hunger impulse being satisfied. By eating more slowly, we give our brain more time to receive the signal that we are now full.

Drink more water

The thirst impulse is transmitted and interpreted as hunger. Drink water, and you will probably notice that your appetite diminishes.

Use smaller plates

Strange but true! When presented with a plate of food, we do not tend to make a distinction between differences in the size of the portions between different sized plates. Therefore, you can get away with using a smaller plate, with less food on it, and still feel full.

Exercise regularly

Weight lifting is perfect for the development of muscle tissue which requires more calories than fat. Therefore, as you become more toned, the easier you will find it to maintain the edge.

Reduce your intake of “bad” carbohydrates

Complex carbohydrates, the likes of oatmeal and spinach are very good for you, as they provide plenty of energy. Simple carbs, found in cakes, pastries and white bread are not so positive or helpful.

Maintain a food journal

Identify any and all triggers that compel you to binge eat, and gorge yourself on fatty foods in an attempt to alleviate your low mood. That way, you can avoid the triggers from happening in the first instance.
